PostSubject: Don't play the GAME!   Sun Dec 04, 2011 2:03 pm

A guy on my team David Sloan, is preaching on this this week...but as he was running it by me I told him I liked it so much I was going to take it! Wink

He said that thinking of our spiritual walks he is often reminded of the game Jinga! Now think about this, everytime we do not Study, Pray, Trust in God or Seek after Him its like we are pulling a "block" out of the bottom, and once we come back halfhearted we are setting it on top of the others. Well, after a while the top gets very heavy...the same time the bottom (the foundation) gets weaker! Sooner or later the weight of the top will bring the whole thing down...and we hit that dreasded spiritual Valley!
The key is to not play the game! KEEP your blocks in place at the foundation where they belong!

Myles,

That is such a great word. I love to minister and be ministered to through analogies. This one really hits home. I have recently experienced that spiritual valley you mention. I get to points in my life where I get exhausted and feel I deserve or need a break. The problem is I completely check out. I check out on my family, my job and even in my quiet times with God.

We have to grasp the fact the rest we need is found in constant pursuit of our heavenly Father. When we pursue Him more than anything then we find more of his peace. When we serve his people we begin to receive his outpouring and refreshing waters.

My prayer is that we all enter a season of more of Jesus and less of us. I want to be rid of the entitlement I feel I deserve and the "woe is me" mentality.

Thanks for this word.

Wow! Great stuff! I was going to elaborate on another post but I think this is the right spot for it.

Jared and I were talking about this very thing... about going through dry spells... or desserts. Well... as Jared, I am just coming out of one of my own. Granted it had it's spurts of great times with God but there were many many times that I just couldn't bring myself to do much studying... if any.

We came to a conclusion. That is that if we are not out serving and spreading God's word and also his love, we are growing stagnant. I heard Francis Chan say once that Christians are comparable to manure. When they sit together in a pile, the do nothing but stink. But when they are spread out, there is major growth because of it.

I am going to be getting involved as much as possible with Faith City Ministries here in Amarillo and I CAN NOT WAIT!! I would suggest if you're going through a season such as mine has been, you try doing the same.

Quote:
Matthew 25:34-40
Then the King will say to those on his right, 'Come, you who are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world. For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you clothed me, I was sick and you visited me, I was in prison and you came to me.' Then the righteous will answer him, saying, 'Lord, when did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you drink? And when did we see you a stranger and welcome you, or naked and clothe you? And when did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?' And the King will answer them, 'Truly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these my brothers, you did it to me.'

Have you ever tried to wake up from a deep sleep...you tried to force your eyes open...and its like they are fighting against you! Its an epic battle to wake up! When I get in these slumps this is very much how it is. Like I am trying with everything in me to "wake up" but on the other hand everything in me is saying "Just lay back down...close your eyes, and stay asleep!"

I do think we should do everything in our power to avoid these "low seasons", and we shouldnt use them as an excuse to stay "down." Once there we must fight to claw our way out...to wake up again.

Myles, "rejoice in The lord always and again I say rejoice". I know that in our down times we do not want to, sometimes we really, really don't want to. That is where the scripture comes in to "Offer a sacrifice of praise". So if you are still down follow me in this. Lord I offer sacrifice of praise, I really don't fell like praise right now but I will praise because I love you.
I trust you when time are good and when times are bad. I thank you for my family, my health, my work, my friends, the upper room. I thank you for scott insisting on my praising you right now even though I don't feel like it cheers Now turn off everything except praise and worship music. Continue this until you feel better, and call me in the morning. Razz Laughing lol! sunny bounce

Love you
Scott

LOVE that, Scott!!!! Amen! SACRIFICE of praise!!!

God already knows how we feel inside so it's not like we're surprising him or letting him down when we go to him and let him know how we are feeling but continue to praise him anyway!!!!

Thank you for your INSISTANCE! BAM!!!
